An independent, community-driven online radio station based in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. At its core, Radio Arena is a family, a community, and a creative haven, providing a platform for DJs and producers within electronic music to collaborate, experiment, and grow together. Broadcasting weekly from Studio Arena, the station supports up-and-coming talent by offering a space to share music, reach new audiences, and create a shared culture through sound.
With a laid-back and playful approach to broadcasting; “clowns broadcasting foolishness once a week”, Radio Arena embraces an informal identity. This spirit is translated into a contemporary circus-inspired visual system, consisting of a custom wordmark, logomark, and expressive graphic elements. Bold geometric forms and simplified shapes balance structure with spontaneity, resulting in an identity that feels clean and minimal, yet vibrant, whimsical, and full of character.

LOGO
The logo and wordmark draw heavily from the visual language of the circus. The logo is inspired by the distinctive shape of a circus tent, while also functioning playfully as the “A” in Radio Arena.
The letterforms in the wordmark take inspiration from the colourful balloon sculptures created by Pjerrot, the beloved Danish clown character at Bakken. This playful reference brings a sense of nostalgia, humour and character to the identity, connecting Radio Arena to the atmosphere and visual world of the circus.
SHAPES
After exploring a wide range of circus references, one thing quickly became clear: the abundance of graphic icons, symbols and decorative shapes that give the visual language its distinctive character.
These elements became an important part of the Radio Arena identity, adding visual interest while reinforcing the playful and energetic character of the brand. The result is a flexible graphic system that can be used across the identity to create variation, rhythm and personality.
